B.A.D.G.E. of Forsyth County Service Organizations, Inc.

Benevolent Association Dedicated to Giving to Employees of Forsyth County Service Organizations, Inc.  (B.A.D.G.E.) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering aid to the employees of the Forsyth County Service Organizations (FCSO).  The mission is to give back to the employees of the FCSO that serve and protect our community.  As a part of its mission, B.A.D.G.E. will award scholarship(s) to law enforcement officers of the FCSO, civilian employees of the FCSO, spouses or dependents of a full time officer or civilian employee of the FCSO. 

Available Scholarships:

The B.A.D.G.E. Board, in its sole discretion, shall determine the recipients of each scholarship.  The number of scholarship(s) shall vary in number depending upon the funding raised by B.A.D.G.E.

Scholarship Prerequisites:

Applicants must meet the following prerequisites to be eligible for a scholarship from B.A.D.G.E.:

  1. The applicant (FCSO officer or civilian employee of the FCSO), or the FCSO employee whose spouse or dependent is applying for the scholarship, must have successfully completed their initial 12 month probationary period with the FCSO.

  2. The applicant plans to attend a 2 or 4 year regionally accredited college or technical school.

Application Process:

The following items must be submitted before the application will be considered:

  1. The application package shall consist of the following items which must be completed in their entirety at the time of submission to be considered for a scholarship: (1) application form, (2) essay, (3) school transcript(s), and (4) Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College Testing (ACT) score(s).

  2. For incoming college freshman and for those entering a technical school, include:

    • Your most recent high school transcript (or evidence of General Educational Development (GED) if applicable).

  3. For incoming freshman who have graduated from high school within the last two (2) years include a copy of your SAT and/or ACT scores.

  4. For students having already successfully completed at least one semester in college, include:

    • Most recent college transcript

  5. The completed application must be received by the Program BY 4:00 P.M., ON NOVEMBER 1ST FOR SPRING SEMESTER AND JULY 1ST FOR FALL SEMESTER to be considered for a scholarship. Late applications will not be accepted.
    (NOTE: In 2024, the spring semester deadline will be changed to December 15th.)

  6. Mail one (1) copy of a completed typed application package to:

Applicants may be required to participate in an interview with B.A.D.G.E. as a part of the application process.  Should B.A.D.G.E. request an interview with you, you will be notified of the time, place, and means by which the interview will be conducted.

Awards:

Scholarship(s) will be awarded two (2) times per year:

  • Five (5) scholarships for Fall semester

  • Five (5) scholarships for Spring semester

 

Scholarship funds will only be paid to the college directly.

 

It will be the student’s responsibility to timely submit an invoice for his/her tuition and fees to B.A.D.G.E. at the address listed above, including with such invoice his/her student ID number, and all applicable information that would be required to make payment of such invoice.  Should this information not be timely provided to B.A.D.G.E., B.A.D.G.E. may revoke the scholarship from the recipient without recourse. Should the scholarship be awarded to an applicant who then fails to register for classes, the scholarship may be revoked by the Program without recourse.

***Please note, that the applicant is responsible for the balance of the tuition/fees due if the scholarship provided by B.A.D.G.E. does not cover his/her tuition and fees in their entirety.
